Visual Design

  1. Branding for UW/UX.

As a branding designer for UW/UX (an organization committed to growing the design community and empowering designers to educate and inspire each other at UWaterloo), I created social media marketing assets for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Zoom using Figma.

I learned about key visual design principles during my time here, gaining a better understanding of visual hierarchy, important of spacing and colour contrast. I also learned about the valuable gift of receiving feedback from my peers to improve that would help me become a better UX Designer. Check out some of the designs I made below. ↓

2. Miscellaneous art works

I loved creating things from a young age. Check out some of my digital artwork and drawing that I have done in the past for fun!

The Persistence of the Ballerina Star

With my teammate, we redesigned “The Star,” a series of paintings by Degas showing his fascination with the beauty of ballet for the Adobe Masterpiece Creative Jam Challenge between January 26th-31st, 2022 using Adobe Photoshop.

We wanted to illustrate that the beauty of ballet couldn’t be achieved without persistence and hard work in our re-design. Although the present adult ballerina has become successful, that wasn’t always true. That was the result of hard work that her past self (depicted in the transparent silhouettes) had gone through. From wanting to give up (the silhouette who’s sitting with her knees crouched up), to picking herself back up and starting again (the twirling silhouette) to being courageous and going out of her comfort zone (the silhouette trying to reach the dress’s shadows that symbolizes the dream), there has been ups and downs. Although hard work and persistence doesn’t guarantee reaching one’s dreams, it does build one’s character to be stronger to overcome barriers that are presented than giving up.

Salvador Dali Drawing

This is a drawing that I did of Salvador Dali (on the left) and the sample guiding picture (on the right) using the drawing grid method. I learned about the importance of shading and most importantly, patience and trusting the process when drawing this.
